3 Billion Mobile Phone Users Are Doing This
And why this can be a big investment opportunity for you
Ric Edelman: It's Tuesday, June 13th. All this week and all next week, we're focusing on video games. Today, Microsoft has Xbox, Sony has PlayStation, Amazon has Luna. Netflix with 230 million subscribers, has no gaming revenue. So they are exploring it. Streaming games. This is what Netflix will be able to do that may be more profitable than streaming music or TV. You see, users got to buy expensive hardware. Microsoft says 200 million households will buy the Xbox.
But there are 3 billion who will play these games on phones. That's streaming, and subscriptions are likely to grow for a year's access to hundreds of games, instead of paying for two, which you would do if you owned the hardware.
And so big companies that already have this huge network of consumers, they're a natural to exploit this. So yeah Netflix my attitude definitely they're going to get into gaming. So is Facebook, AT&T, United Health Care. Every big company that has a network of consumers is a natural to get into gaming.
This means we're going to need more content; means we're going to need more games. That's how you grow the industry. And that means the investment opportunities are huge as well as the employment opportunities for game developers and programmers, and the need for sales and marketing.
This is a massive business. That's why we're talking about it all this week and all next week. And that's why I mentioned Global X Virtual Gaming and Esports ETF, symbol HERO on yesterday’s show.
